PRESS RELEASE

The Revd Anne Taylor, new Children's Ministry Officer, with children from Rathfarnham Parish.THE REVD ANNE TAYLOR APPOINTED CHILDREN'S MINISTRY OFFICER

The Revd Anne Taylor, Curate of Rathfarnham has been appointed Children's Ministry Officer by the Sunday School Society.

In the role she will be working to promote and develop new ways of looking at Ministry to Children. She will also be assisting in the development and resourcing of Sunday Schools.

Speaking about her appointment, the Revd Anne Taylor said "I am delighted to be taking up this new role. It will be on a half time basis so I'll be retaining my involvement in Rathfarnham parish. Ministry to Children is a challenging and exciting role. So much emphasis has been put on youth work that very often children's ministry has been neglected, and yet that is the basis for youth work and for our lives as Christians."

In her new role Anne will support and develop children's ministry in parishes through contact with clergy and Sunday School teachers. She will be available to visit leaders and parishes to provide training and resources as well as organising diocesan and national events to equip those involved with ministry to children. Anne will also be a resource person and advisor to clergy and Sunday Schools.

The Revd Anne Taylor will take up her position on 1 February 2005. The Archbishop will lead a service of commissioning on 13 February in Holy Trinity Church, Rathmines at 4.00 pm to which clergy, Sunday School teachers and children are invited.
