INSTITUTION OF THE REVD JOHN TANNER
AS RECTOR OF TULLOW, CARRICKMINES

The Institution of the Revd John Tanner as Rector of Tullow Parish will take place on Friday 21 September at 8pm in Tullow Church, Brighton Road, Carrickmines. The service of institution will be led by the Most Revd Dr John Neill, Archbishop of Dublin and the address will be given by the Revd Canon Desmond Sinnamon, Rector of Taney Parish, where John served as Curate.

The service of Institution will be attended by local public representatives, including the Minister for Education, Mary Hanafin TD, and large numbers of clergy from the Church of Ireland and other Christian denominations. Following the service, there will be a reception in the adjoining parish centre.

The Revd John Leonard Tanner was born and brought up in Bandon, Co Cork and was educated at Bandonbridge National School and Bandon Grammar School. On leaving school he joined the Allied Irish Bank and worked in various parts of the country including Dublin, Tipperary and Cork. He was ordained a Deacon in 2003 and served as Curate in Taney Parish, Dundrum until his appointment to Tullow. In 2004 he was ordained a Priest. John’s relaxation activities include tennis, walking and reading. He and his wife, Vera, have two sons, Keith aged 17 and James, 14.
