CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL
TO JOIN
MILLION STRONG VOICES FOR HOSPICES
On Saturday 6 October, Dublins
Christ Church Cathedral will be one of the venues
worldwide for a Mexican Wave of simultaneous
concerts round the globe at 7.30pm local time
on the same day. The event is organized by Voices
for Hospices, a UK based charity, to coincide
with World Hospice and Palliative Care Day and
takes place once every two years.
Involving up to a million people
worldwide each time and raising at least a pound
for every one of those people, these concerts
raise awareness and encourage new volunteers for
each local unit involved.
This is the worlds largest
simultaneous musical event and RSCM Ireland invites
singers from all churches, schools and choral
societies to come and join in at Christ Church
Cathedral in Dublin on 6 October. All proceeds
from the concert in Dublin will be donated to
Our Ladys Hospice Harolds Cross.
The performance will consist
of wellknown choruses from Messiah and there
will be time for singers to get their breath back
as the choruses will be interspersed with solo
arias, sung by members of Christ Church Cathedral
choir says Peter Parshall, RSCM Ireland
co-ordinator. Those wishing to sing should
arrive at Christ Church in time for a rehearsal
at 5.15pm, with the performance itself starting
at 7.30pm. Bookings must be made in advance as
we expect this event to be very popular.
For further details, please contact
Peter on 01 671 2426 / pparshall@rscm.com. The
price per singer is €10.00 and singers should
endeavour to bring their own score with them,
although there will be a limited number available
on the day.
